Football, I think we all are familiar with  football. Did you know this buddy football is  the most popular sport in the world with the huge fan base of 3.5 million fans around the world.

Football 

We met with football in our life differently. Let me share How I met football in my life when I was in 8th standard my  teacher shared some inspirational biographies. In those biographies my teacher shared about Ronaldo and Messi who have gone through so many struggles and a lot of hard work to play the sport football. I was inspired by their biography and started to watch their gameplay. ( Even many of us watch football to see Messi and Ronaldo only.. Right!)Within no time by watching football day by day and match by match I fell in love with football and addicted to football.

Later some curiosity built in my mind to know about what is this football and what is the origin of football and complete information about football.

History of football:

Football has a very vast and long history. It starts from the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC and still continues.

Football 

In early history football was first played in China with the name "cuju". It was played in military manuals in china in the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC.

Cuju was played on a square shaped field with a round ball, and the same field structure was carried now also.

Another version of "Cuju" then spread to Japan in the "Asuka era". Which is named as "kemari".

There is a belief that Rugby football originated in ancient Greece and Rome.

Evolution of Modern day football:

Modern day Football originated in Great Britain in the year 1800s.

The sport was played in different versions like Rugby football and Association football by England.

Football 

• In early years both Rugby football and Association football both were united and later they separated.
• In the year 1863, The Association football was the first official governing body which was established to govern football.
• Rugby football is popularly known as "Rugby" and Association football is widely known as simply "football".
• In 1904, the federation internationale de football Association (FIFA) was established in Paris, France, Belgium, Denmark,Spain, Sweden and Netherlands where the founding members of FIFA by the 1950s after the second world war there were more than 73 FIFA members.

History of Indian football:

The History of football in India exists from before independence which was brought by Britishers to Indian subcontinents with the efforts of Nagendra Prasad sarbadhikari. 

• In 1888 the "Durand cup" was formed by Indian foreign secretary, Mortimer Durand at Shimla.
• The "Durand cup" is the third oldest football competition.
• The first Indian football club under the rules of the army is "Mohun Bagan sporting club" which was formed in 1889.
• On February 20,1899 in "Thrissur", Kerala "R B Ferguson football club" was established.
• The first Indian federation, "The Indian football Association" was formed in 1893.
• In India, the first football game was played between the Calcutta club of civilians and the Gentleman of Barrackpore in 1854.
• In india the first football club is "Calcutta FC" which formed in 1872. Dalhousie club, Traders club and Naval Volunteers club were also formed in the next few year's.
